Student working on a research project.

Low Cost High Altitude Noise Measurement

Background noise radiation from household devices like WiFi routers and cell phones has a big impact on communication systems in cubesats. A high-altitude balloon is being launched to determine the levels of this radiation above western New York. Using the data, cubesats launched over the East coast will be able to accurately estimate the communications capabilities of the satellite.
