Gender Disparity In Bladder Cancer

The gender disparity in the incidence of bladder cancer (2:1, male:female) indicates a role in steroid hormone regulation of initiation and progression. We have developed several patient derived models of bladder cancer to test the hypothesis that bladder cancer cells are responsive to androgen and estrogen signaling which in turn contributes to the gender disparity.
