Molecular Approaches To Solar Energy Storage

Undergraduates in the Lacy lab will work directly with graduate students, postdoctoral researches, and Dr. Lacy on a research project to get trained. Skills learned include: organic synthesis, inorganic and organometallic synthesis, characterization of organic and coordination compounds, writing skills, and analytical chemistry basics. Eventually, trained undergrads will be assigned a research project with the hope to publish their work and present at conferences. Check out the website for a description of the project goals. In short, we are interested in learning how metalloenzymes perform solar-energy and health related chemical transformations that involve the making and breaking of oxygen-oxygen bonds by using organometallic and inorganic model compounds.
