A satellite is currently being built that will be flown by NASA through NASA's CubeSat Initiative and is part of the Air Force University Nanosatellite Program. The UB satellite will collect photometric data of unresolved space objects using two cameras which operate over the visible and infrared wavelengths. Using this data, various properties such as shape, orientation, albedo, and material composition will be estimated. Students from a wide spectrum of disciplines are needed to help with various aspects of the nanosatellite subsystems.
Disciplines: Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics
Student Skill-Set Needed: Basic engineering math skill sets, Computer programming especially needed, Work together in groups
Compensation: Academic Credit, Volunteer
Available: Fall, Spring, Summer
