This project is based on the on-going project: smart can and mat, and there are two subpojects:
2. Upper Extremities Rehabilitation with Smart Sensory Can and Mat
2.1. Hand and arm movement evaluation
2.1.1. The project is aiming at developing an algorithm for detecting the jitter in a hand and arm movement of a subject when he holds the Smart Can. The Smart Can is equipped with IMU providing acceleration, angular velocity, and magnetic field direction. One of the evaluation metrics for temporal smoothness of a movement is the jerk measure. The comparison of different jerk score calculation methods will be a sub-task.
2.1.2. Skill requirements: strong problem solving ability, rich hands-on project experience, good on math, and familiar with inertial sensor is a plus.
2.2. GUI development
2.2.1. The project is aiming at developing a GUI on PC for the Smart Can and Mat system. The GUI is mainly for system control and information display including mat pressure and can trajectory. The GUI will be interact with the system via an MSP430 MCU.
2.2.2. Skill requirements: strong problem solving ability, rich hands-on project experience, and good at programming using at least one language (Matlab, Java, Python, etc).
