The purpose of this project is to reveal the relationship between Sestrin2 protein and hearing loss. Sestrin2 protein is involved in cellular responses to different stress conditions. Recent research shows that oxidative stress plays an important role in the pathophysiology of hearing loss. The goal of this project is to determine the location of the Sestrin2 in the auditory system and whether natural aging or noise exposure will contribute to the amount of Sestrin2 protein found.
