CURCA seeks to increase student awareness of and successful competition for regional, national, and international scholarships and fellowships. This web page is designed to help you identify opportunities appropriate to your professional interests and your level of academic accomplishment. Students seeking financial support for their studies or for research or creative activities are encouraged to pursue, and may be eligible to compete for, externally-funded scholarships (not funded by the University at Buffalo). Students seeking funded or volunteer research or creative activity experiences should also consult the research section of this site. Please contact us at UB-CURCA@buffalo.edu with your questions or to set up an appointment.

Nationally Competitive Fellowships and Scholarships

There are a number of prestigious national and international scholarship and fellowship award opportunities which carry substantial undergraduate or graduate level funding. These include programs such as the Rhodes, Marshall, Truman and Goldwater scholarships and fellowships. We are eager to increase student awareness and preparation to compete for and obtain these awards. Advance preparation for these awards is essential and may begin in the student’s freshman year. The University at Buffalo Honors College administers the application process university-wide for these prestigious fellowships and scholarships. Please note that affiliation with the University Honors College as an Honors Scholar is not required. Most of these awards require a university endorsement before the applications can be forwarded to the final levels of competition. To help students prepare competitive applications, The University Honors College offers individual advising assistance to all UB students in:

  • determining the appropriate fellowship or scholarship students should pursue
  • selecting recommenders
  • preparing compelling personal statements
  • interviewing
  • developing project proposals or proposed programs of study

Interested students should visit the Nationally Competitive Fellowships and Scholarships section of the UB Honors site to learn more about nationally competitive fellowships and scholarships. Please contact Hadar Borden in the University Honors College with any questions at (716) 645-3020 or e-mail at hborden@buffalo.edu.
