Beljan, of Eden, New York, evaluated remediation alternatives to improve the water quality of Onondaga Lake, ultimately helping to develop a method to aerate the lake that would improve the water and ecosystem.

We are studying the ability of macrophytic algae to take up heavy metals with an eye to possibly using them to remediate contaminated sites.

Suggested Skill Set: Must have standard lab skills--making solutions, pipetting, pH measurements, etc. Will train in other techniques needed.
