Beljan, of Eden, New York, evaluated remediation alternatives to improve the water quality of Onondaga Lake, ultimately helping to develop a method to aerate the lake that would improve the water and ecosystem.

Fab@Home - Open Source Rapid Prototyping

The New York State Center for Engineering Design and Industrial Innovation (NYSCEDII) is looking for an undergraduate engineering student interested in the development of an open source rapid prototyping system. Fab@Home is a rapid prototyping system developed at Cornell University that is capable of turning CAD models into 3D prototypes (http://fabathome.org). The project is focused on extending the capabilities of the Fab@Home system and/or developing a mechanism to encourage collaboration and use of the system.

Suggested Skill Set: Candidates are expected to have an understanding of electromechanical systems and necessary programming background to support project responsibilities. Additionally, an interest in engineering materials would be beneficial.
