As use of technology increases and on-line capabilities grow, the Center for Handicapped Children (CHC) has turned to UB for help in developing a new and interactive website. Professor Mike Buckley's CSE 453 Hardware/Software Integration System Design class has fielded the challenge of providing CHC with an "online school". The goal is to extend CHC's reach and community impact outside the classroom with a highly interactive, visually stimulating, constantly evolving online school that provides real time information for staff, students and parents.
The spring semester's team will lay the solid foundation for CHC's online school with architecture to accommodate future growth. Among their development goals are a new layout and design of the current website, including a calendar of student events, CHC's promotional video clip, staff pages and email, blog, donation box, log-in area, and single-switch activities for CHC students to access. Future advancements to the website involve on-line access to data generated from other CSE 453 projects such as Badge Tracking System and the DISCO System. The CHC website is www.rainbowchc.com.
