A Lake Divided: Modeling DO in Onondaga Lake

Beljan, of Eden, New York, evaluated remediation alternatives to improve the water quality of Onondaga Lake, ultimately helping to develop a method to aerate the lake that would improve the water and ecosystem.

Video-Based Smart Office System

We are building a smart office system that uses multiple video cameras mounted in the office to monitor activity. The smart office system will detect users and documents in the environment and automatically digitally record (at a semantic level) the annotations a user makes to the document. The student's responsibility in this project is to help build and program the underlying software system that will pull video from the cameras and do computer vision.

Research Project Information

Date Open: Jan 22, 2008 to Dec 25, 2009
Suggested Skill Set: Knowledge of images and computer vision would be helpful, but is not expected. Practical knowledge of Unix (Linux/OSX) and C/C++ is required. This research project presents a clear chance for the student to learn about this research area by doing a real project with graduate students and faculty.
