Every day at the University at Buffalo, our undergraduate students and distinguished faculty engage in research projects that ignite the intellect and enliven the learning process. Through the Center for Undergraduate Research & Creative Activities (CURCA), you too can be a part of this exciting world of discovery.

Ranked among the nation’s leading research universities, UB is committed to nurturing and supporting research and creative work across all academic disciplines. As a UB undergraduate, you are uniquely positioned to take advantage of the wonderful research going on around campus. The center has been established to assist undergraduate students in finding challenging research opportunities that match their academic interests and career goals. Our office will also help you and your faculty peer mentors get the most out of research projects and creative work.

All UB students are encouraged to become involved in meaningful research. Students who are involved with special programs on campus, such as The Honors College, McNair Program, Acker Scholars, University Scholars, or Undergraduate Academies are also encouraged to utilize the postings and information found here. Students in these programs can gain additional information pertaining to how research/creative projects are recorded in their special program by selecting the appropriate program link.

Take some time to get familiar with our services. From the menu above you can explore the current research opportunities available. You’ll also find application information and links to faculty mentors who are conducting research and offering undergraduates the opportunity to explore alongside them. You can find out about national and international scholarship and fellowship opportunities offered through UB, and see why an undergraduate research experience would be vital to your application. You can also learn more about past undergraduate student research and creative work and see what interesting projects were displayed at the annual “Celebration of Academic Excellence” research fair. Requirements for getting involved in this year’s fair are also listed.

Build great relationships with faculty mentors in your field of interest. Add impressive experience to your resume. Learn lessons that will last you a lifetime. We in the CURCA office look forward to assisting you.
